This summer, I was fortunate enough to spend two weeks in Blantyre, Malawi, working at Chisomo Children’s Club. The charity works closely with street children in Malawi’s cities, and builds relationships with them, providing them with safety, opportunity and love, while eventually reintegrating them back into their family homes. In our brief time at the Blantyre centre, we were very busy; we painted all 3 bedrooms, donated lots of stationery, joined in with lessons, and ran a week-long activity camp. But all the time, our focus was on getting to know the children personally, and communicating to them something of the love which God has for every one of them. This was tricky because of the language barrier, but despite this, by the end of our fortnight we found it very difficult to leave the kids behind because we felt so attached to them. Our trip was an unforgettable experience, and has taught me a lot about an attitude of thankfulness which we seem to have lost in the UK. This wonderful trip was in part sponsored by Naturen, and we were all very grateful for the financial support which we received. The sponsorship was a fantastic blessing, both to us on the trip and to the children in Malawi who we spent time with.
